Kim Elizabeth:
Princess of Horror

Blood Princess

Red droplets bead her pale throat,
making a blood necklace.

Wetness drips down
like crimson dew
clinging to a silken petal.

She paints herself,
smearing darkness
across a virginous,
white palette.

A Masterpiece in blood.

And she dreams,
with tenacious wonder,
of what royal figure
she will paint next.

To say Kim Elizabeth lives in a dream world is to accurately assess  the manner in which Kim is capable of not just bringing the night realm to our peaceful, placid lives but to transcend the reader into that world. With unequaled eloquence nurtured between hitched, quivering breaths, Kim's majesty is in this transcendence and in her unique, wry humor. Her wit presents itself well and, at times, she can be heard flitting into Latin or French as the mood fits her. In a recent interview, she succinctly described the reactions of others to her works. "They held crucifixes up to me whenever they saw me...but they always did that to me as a small child so I was used to it." Her angelic, beautiful looks accentuate the spell, the musk of her illuminating creations.

Dubbed the "Princess of Horror", and rightly so, Kim weaves tales of sensual mystique. Kim has published short stories, poetry and tales in comic book form since the age of sixteen. One gets the surrealistic impression that she has been "haunted" for much longer. In her latest release, Netherworld, Kim injects horror and love at mad dashing paces in this fantastic collection of her works. The reader is lured by Netherworld's own volition, causing pages to turn with numbing speed and, all the while, the heart sighs and then flinches within Kim's visions.

Kim's poetry has a tranquility and peacefulness about it. Yet, under the soft, woven words can be discerned a need, a desperation and in this way it finishes the loop and the reader unknowingly slips through the knot of fascination, cinched close. Presented herein are four of Kim's poems ranging from free verse to haiku. Again, captured upon the gloved hand of Mistress Kim, these words vie for enough space in one's mind to contain the conjured images she hones so well. Resiliency exists in the wonderful way she mends and muses, cleaves and clings and wholly flings her wares of apropos and haunting magic. Suffice it to say, Kim Elizabeth, whether in comic book form, astride the turning page of a novel or delving into the nocturnal havens of her poetry, is more than the "Princess of Horror". She is, justifiably, a Goddess.

Immortalized Goddess

A dark shadow

Painting the Goddess
intensely.

Fingertips stained
with gold and violet,
from glorious mane,
and long flowing skirts.

Lingering,
passionate strokes
outlining the delicate curves
of her supple body.

Feverishly enamored
with this vision
before him.

Her cobalt blue eyes
began to sparkle,
like a thousand chips
of shattered ice.

Rising from the canvas,

She put her lips to his.

Dark Silence

Through darkened shadows
and misty eyes

I whisper death's name
softly on my lips,

Waiting for his warmest
embrace.

Subtle breezes
sweeping through my body,
cleansing my soul.

Feel of cool raindrops
gliding down silken petals--
the same petals that will wither
beneath the fiery sun.

Blackened to ashes
in their death.

Scattering to oblivion.

From this world
they are gone
forever.

I lay still at the hands
of my lover,

Longing for the shadow
to gently cover me,
and bring a dark silence
to my lips.

Allhallows Eve

Midnight masquerade.
Vampire and Princess dance.
Fangs drip royal blood.

Night's Animation

The stars accentuate the mystical
black light
as ethereal clouds drift through the darkness,
temporarily concealing the fluorescent
moon.

Steady sounding heartbeat echoes--
of children lost in eternal skies.

Underlying the blackness,

White masques,
beautiful form in motion, intertwine.

A graceful dance
beneath the stars.

Flickering of unobstructed flames
grow wild.

Uncanny torch of passion,
instantaneous heating of veins.

Arms outstretched
to enrapture body.

Dark passion to seize the very soul.

Intimacy unequaled
by bare mortals.

Winds whisper
as the spirits of the night
cry out like silvery bells.

Over the vastness
of domains possessed,

Their songs are heard.
